Kindergarten
“It didn’t take long to realize Capital Christian School offered so much more than a family atmosphere. They value excellence in all levels of their education. Our children were given a great foundation academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially in an environment where they felt comfortable to grow and explore.”
-Jayme
"We have had a great experience doing all day kindergarten at Capital Christian and I would highly recommend it to other families."
-Hallman Family
Bible
Students study children of the Bible in the Old and New Testaments through Bible lessons from the Abeka flashcard series. Godly character traits are reinforced through stories, songs, and activities. Time is spent daily in prayer along with a weekly memory verse.
Handwriting
The Handwriting Without Tears curriculum allows students the opportunity to learn correct letter formation for the printing of letters and words.
Social/Emotional Development
Kindergarten provides a safe environment for students to develop self-regulation skills without the presence of a parent. Students are encouraged to learn to monitor and manage their emotions, actions, and behaviors. Other important skills like taking turns, sharing, and cooperating are worked on as well.
Reading
Phonics is the primary method we use to teach reading. The Abeka curriculum has one of the strongest phonics programs available and provides opportunities for learning letter sounds, blending, digraphs and how to read short and long vowel words.
Social Studies
Our curriculum provides an introduction to helpers in our community, beginnings of American history, interesting features from countries around the world, and simple geography.
Other Activities
We enjoy computer, gross motor development in P.E., music, library, arts and crafts, literacy stations, monthly show and tell, story time, theme weeks and snack times. We also take fun, educational fieldtrips.
Mathematics
The Abeka curriculum educates children to the concepts of counting, patterns, comparisons, number identity, ordinals, place value, addition, subtraction, graphing, money, time and more.
Science
Students will see that God has a plan for all of His creation and that He not only made each living thing, but He also cares for it.
